The forerunner of innovation
Our mission is based on innovation and a commitment to deliver the most sustainable and energy efficient products to consumers. When the European Union issued the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC), a legislative act to set minimum efficiency standards for energy-related products, we were prepared to meet the challenge.
In 2010, Daikin became the first HVAC-R manufacturer and producer to introduce seasonal efficiency: a cutting-edge method to develop and introduce more energy efficient technologies to its products to reduce running costs and environmental degradation.
This initiative set the foundation for Daikin to become a proactive leader to not only comply with future legislation, but surpass it with our advanced technologies and products.
What is seasonal efficiency?
Seasonal efficiency measures the true energy efficiency of heating and cooling devices during a period of one year. Unlike older heating and cooling systems, seasonal efficiency tracks a system’s daily operations to include temperature fluctuations and standby periods. After one year, the seasonal efficiency data gives a more in-depth and reliable overview of a systems energy consumption. This will help guide consumers in taking the right steps to reduce their system's ecological footprint.
Seasonal efficiency and energy labels
To ensure these energy efficiency standards are met, the European Union's Ecodesign Directive requires a range of Daikin products to display a uniform energy label. These energy labels showcase the energy efficiency of heating and cooling devices and allow consumers to easily compare models.
Smart use of energy
Since 2010, Daikin has introduced seasonal efficiency to its vast product range to help consumers lower costs and achieve higher levels of energy efficiency.
