The particle accelerators that are in use makes it the largest facility in the Southern Hemisphere and the only Cyclotron facility on the African continent that offers unique research capabilities to local and international researchers. The facility is committed to offer state-of-art research infrastructure to its users, both locally and internationally.

The latest project consists of upgrades to existing, as well as the construction of new infrastructure. Three air-cooled Chillers from Daikin were recently rigged into their newly built home, offering 3 x 1,2mW (1200kW) cooling capacity each.

These chillers will be responsible to keep highly regulated areas within small temperature margins that laboratory equipment requires to perform at their optimum levels.

The chillers serve a range of cooling sections/loops – including areas where high-radiation levels are experienced during procedures.

Extra Air was appointed to perform this technique and a highly specialized installation that started mid-2021. This is one of many top-specification installations where Extra Air & Daikin has partnered to ensure top-quality equipment, materials, and system operation that satisfies the client’s specific expectations.
