Logistics Planner

Location: Daikin Cape Town Office

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Responsible for the development and management of DASA’s global logistics strategies and activities. These activities includes domestic truckload and parcel freight, import/export freight forwarding and trade compliance. Supervision of the Monthly company sales TD figures via coordination and supervision of the customer success team.

 

 

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB:

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision and plan for international and domestic transportation.
  • Develop and lead the ongoing strategy for operational excellence and growth in the logistics, material handling, and delivered quality of all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Identify, select and negotiate best terms and rates with third party logistics providers, transportation carriers, freight forwarders and other business partners.
  • Develop and propose business case to improve logistics to support best service, lowest cost and efficiency improvements.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing oversight of international trade and shipping policies, import/export regulations, including export markets to ensure DASA is in full compliance with applicable SA and international regulations.
  • Delivers input and ensures compliance to internal and external quality, environmental & trade compliance controls and not limited to reconciliation, trade agreements and any other import and export compliance elements.
  • Ensures KPIs are developed and metrics published to monitor and manage logistics processes.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of worldwide market trends related to logistics, regulatory environment, currency fluctuations and other relevant cost factors that may affect supply chain.
  • Coordinate and interface with various departments to ensure the appropriate resources are available and aligned to business objectives.
  • Provide communication to appropriate corporate functions and site leaders regarding market and industry trends in areas such as improvements, pricing, capacity and capability of logistics providers.
  • Lead vertically and collaborate horizontally, fostering harmonious relationships that transcend in the organisation.
  • Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.
  • Develop and manage process improvement projects to improve operational processes and procedures.
  • Escalation point for resolution of end client issues.
  • Supervise the monthly touch down targets and consolidate information to sales planning.
  • Assist with order Book revision and identification of risks.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BCom, BEng, BSc – Logistics specialization;
  • 5 years’ experience in Logistic management;
  • 2 years’ experience in complex manufacturing environment;
  • Advanced computer skills;
  • High potential for advancement;
  • Profit & loss driven;
  • Experience in demand planning, production planning, in-bound logistics, warehousing, out-bound logistics and inventory control.
