"Stars on Ice" in Russia

Daikin warms Russian hearts with "Stars on Ice" show. 20,000 spectators view surprise-filled figure skating extravaganza.
For two days, 2 & 3 June 2005, 20,000 spectators were treated by sponsors Daikin Europe & DAC to more than even the planners of the event could have imagined. The show was held in St. Petersburg, the “Northern Capital” of Russia. Star of the event, which included top names in figure skating and numerous circus acts, was Bolshoi opera tenor turned pop star, Nikolai Baskov.

The enthusiasm of both performers and spectators turned the planned 2.5-hour show into a 4-hour extravaganza. Baskov and the show’s Master of Ceremony joked and improvised, the ice skaters sang and the public demanded repeated encores. The performance was also assisted by the Governor of St. Petersburg and was filmed for broadcast on the main national television channel.
Sponsor Daikin rewarded for its efforts
General sponsors Daikin Europe & DAC received ample attention. The Daikin logo was on display in the centre of the ice rink, visible to all, and Daikin advertising could be seen throughout the auditorium. Before the show, a Daikin advertising spot was shown and at the programme’s conclusion, spectators were again reminded of the efforts of Daikin. In addition, a speech was given during the performance by a Daikin representative and Daikin was included in the improvisational banter between star Baskov and the Master of Ceremony. The four best figure skaters were awarded Daikin Air Purifiers.
Plans are already in the making for a similar event next year.
