Increased energy savings with new R-410A small splits
Daikin Europe nv (16/12/2004)
New R-410A small splits offer increased energy savings and high COPs. Daikin Europe has introduced a new range of R-410A heat pump and cooling only wall mounted pair splits.
Available as RXS/FTXS and RKS/FTKS outdoor/indoor unit matched pairs, the new systems have models in 3 sizes with cooling capacities from 2.0 to 3.4kW (cooling) and 2.7 to 4.0kW (heating). In addition, COPS between 3.25 min (cooling) and 4.12 max (heating) place them firmly in the front rank of comparable systems as regards energy efficiency with 5 of the 6 models meeting Category ‘A’ requirements of the EU Energy Labelling scheme. The new indoor units are compatible for use with the new Daikin range of ‘D’ series Multi outdoor units.
Visual appeal has also been afforded attention and the indoor unit’s new stylish flat design and striking optional all white or white and silver colour scheme blends harmoniously with any interior décor, whether traditional or modern.
Several major technological refinements are incorporated – the use of a high torque DC reluctance motor Daikin swing compressor for example, combines reduced energy consumption, vibration and operating noise with increased performance and reliability. Daikin has also used a DC fan motor for the first time in its small split range, increasing efficiency over standard AC types across the motor speed range by between 20 and 40%. Furthermore, modifications to the indoor unit heat exchanger have increased its cubic and hence, heat transfer, capacity by some 23%.
The provision of the company’s new Titanium Apatite photo catalytic air purifying filter, which maximises absorption of microscopic particles, decomposes odours and deactivates bacteria and viruses is a further important addition. The world’s first practical application of this advanced type of filter was announced by Daikin Industries, Japan, mid way through 2003. Since then, independent research has confirmed its ability to remove bacteria and enterotoxins and deactivate viruses. Titanium Apatite in fact, is 2.5 times more absorbent than the Titanium Oxide widely used in air purifiers, deactivating and decomposing more than 99.9% of influenza and staphylococcus aurea toxins that come into contact with it. |

New energy saving and comfort enhancing operating modes are also available to the user, activation of an ‘ECONO’ button on the remote controller reducing both operating current and operating frequency. Personal comfort meanwhile, can be enhanced via use of the ‘Comfortable Mode’, which alters the angle of the air distribution flap to ensure that neither cool nor warm air blow directly onto the room occupant.
