Daikin UK takes 'Gold'

Daikin UK takes 'Gold' at Sir Matthew Pinsent's Corporate Regatta.

den790Sunday 10th July saw 4 times Olympic gold medallist, Sir Matthew Pinsent stage his first corporate regatta for ‘novice’ rowers in glorious sunshine before a large and enthusiastic crowd at the stunningly beautiful Dormey Lake, near Windsor.

Intended to give competitors from Southeast based companies first hand knowledge of the training and teamwork required to succeed at this exhausting sport, the event was open solely to mixed teams without any previous experience.

The highlight of the afternoon – the Men’s 500 Metre Sprint – was won by the Daikin sponsored crew of 4 intrepid oarsmen from Daikin Airconditioning UK Ltd, 360 Engineering Ltd and Eventemp(Midlands) Ltd, superbly coxed by a female member of Daikin Airconditioning UK Ltd staff.

Daikin’s entry into the competition was announced during the company’s recent D1 Dealer Conference at which Sir Matthew was in fact, guest speaker. The theme of his address was ‘partnership and pulling together’, which was also the theme of the conference itself. The synergy was there for all to see and clearly galvanised the ‘Daikin 5’ into mastering the arduous training sessions, fitness programme, dietry regime, teamwork and psychology imposed by Sir Matthew and fighting off repeated spirited challenges by 9 other crews to win by several lengths.
