New Czech plant opens its doors to the world: Grand opening of Daikin Pilsen plant held on 14 July.

cor029_3The newly constructed Daikin plant in Pilsen in the Czech Republic officially opened its doors to the world in a grand ceremony that took place on 14 July 2005. Among the invited guests were Czech Republic Deputy Prime Minister Martin Jahn, Mayor Miroslav Kalous, District Governor Petr Zimmermann and top management from Daikin Europe NV and Daikin Industries Ltd., including CEO Mr. Noriyuki Inoue.

Guests were welcomed by children of plant employees with red, white and blue roses, the colours of the Czech Republic, Japan and Daikin. The celebration began with a presentation of the company and a tour of the new 32,200-m² Pilsen plant.
This was followed by speeches, the planting of a traditional tree, and a ribbon cutting ceremony. The 650 plant employees also took part in the event and joined the guests for a festive lunch and party.

Highly skilled labour force and excellent location
The factory near Pilsen, the capital of West Bohemia and a major industrial city, has been up and running since September 2004. It produces residential units intended for the booming Southern European market and will significantly reduce lead times to these important destinations.

Trump cards for the choice of Pilsen include proximity to Germany and the major European road infrastructure, as well as a highly skilled labour force that is expected to grow to around 1,800 employees in the coming years.
