Daikin Belgium obtains ISO 14001
Daikin Europe nv (17/05/2005)
Daikin AirConditioning Belgium has joined the ranks of Daikin group members with ISO 14001 environmental certification.
Daikin’s global concern for the environment
After an extensive audit of its environmental management system (EMS), the independent assessment organisation SGS System and Services Certification awarded Daikin AirConditioning Belgium its ISO 14001 certification in March of 2005.
Components of the EMS include the implementation of international standards for environmental management, compliance with all legal requirements, reducing the use of natural resources, and optimisation of waste separation and disposal. This concern for the environment extends throughout the Belgian organisation. All employees are urged to look for new ways to responsibly sell and distribute its products, and provide its customers with the information they need. Mark Oosterlynck, Daikin AirConditioning Belgium’s Managing Director adds: “We are extremely proud of this certification. Increasingly, we are facing challenges to develop environmental products. The ISO 14001 certification will prompt us to continue to develop innovative ways of preserving natural resources, thereby involving our staff as well as our installers.”
Ongoing commitment
ISO 14001 certification commits companies to continually improve their environmental performance as part of their normal business practices. As such, it is part of the Japanese Daikin Group’s ongoing concern to responsibly manage all aspects of its activities that affect the environment.
Daikin AirConditioning Belgium, with its headquarters in Wavre and two sales offices in Ghent and Herentals, employs 50 persons and provides support to an extensive installer network in Belgium.
