New 'D' series R-410A Multi outdoor units

New ranges of MXS and MKS heat pump and cooling only R-410A Multi outdoor units have been introduced by Daikin Europe.
Designated ‘D’ series, the units are compatible with the company’s new FTXS and FTKS wall mounted indoor units as well as new dedicated CTXS and CTKS wall mounted heat pump and cooling only Multi indoor units.
‘D’ series Multi outdoor units incorporate a number of advanced technological features – a high torque DC reluctance motor Daikin swing compressor for example, which combines reduced energy consumption, vibration and operating noise with increased performance and reliability. The first time use by Daikin of a DC fan motor also increases unit efficiency over standard AC types over the motor speed range by between 20 and 40%.
The new CTXS50 and CTKS50 wall mounted heat pump and cooling indoor units have been developed specifically for connection to the new 4MXS80 and 4MKS90 ‘D’ Multi outdoor units and also the recently introduced RMX Super Multi series. Maximum operating sound power levels for the new CTXS and CTKS Multi combinations are 62dBA (heating) and 64dBA (heating) respectively.
The visual appeal of CTXS and CTKS units has been given particular attention and the new stylish flat design and striking optional all white or white and silver colour schemes blend harmoniously both traditional and modern interior concepts and decoration.
Incorporation of high efficiency Daikin Titanium Apatite photo catalytic air purifying filters is a further important new feature, enabling the maximum adsorption of microscopic particles, decomposition of odours and deactivation of bacteria and viruses. The world’s first practical application of the Titanium Apatite filter was announced by Daikin Industries, Japan, during 2003 and subsequent independent research has since confirmed its ability to remove bacteria and enterotoxins and deactivate viruses. Titanium Apatite in fact, is 2.5 times more adsorbent than Titanium Oxide types widely used in air purifiers, deactivating and decomposing more than 99.9% of influenza and staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) toxins that come into contact with it.
An extra outdoor model, 2MXS52D, has been added to the heat pump series such that five new Multi outdoor units are available in each operational configuration to suit 2, 3 and 4 room air conditioning installations. Capacities range from 3.9 to 9.0kW (cooling) and 3.9 to 9.6kW (heating) with corresponding COPs between 3.04 to 4.55 (cooling) and 3.70 to 4.51 (heating) for heat pump models and 3.21 to 4.00 for cooling only models. Sound pressure levels across the range vary from 43 to 49dBA depending on model size and operating mode. Operating temperatures are between –15.50C and +46.00C and maximum piping length is 70m.
Users of the CTXS and CTKS indoor units can also benefit from new energy saving and comfort enhancing operating modes simply by activation of an ‘ECONO’ button on the remote controller, which reduces both operating current and operating frequency. Personal comfort meanwhile, can be enhanced via use of the ‘Comfortable Mode’, which alters the angle of the unit’s air distribution flap to ensure that neither cool nor warm air can blow directly onto the room occupant.
